Continents

The children have settled back in wonderfully and today they have been 'on it like a car bonnet' as Mrs Bales would say! They wrote some fantastic sentences about their holidays in literacy, using all of their 'top tips for presentation' that they came up with yesterday.

In maths, we have been looking at the days of the week and how calendars work, so I'm sure the class would love to be involved in keeping any diaries at home or helping to plan family activities on the calendar. We like quizzing each other about the sequence of days and figuring out which day it was yesterday or will be tomorrow.

In topic this afternoon, we thought more about the continents in our world, as last half term we looked at our own area of Sutton and discovered we were in Europe. We looked at the shapes of the other continents and tried to put them back in the right place on our own maps, ready for labelling next week and some fact finding! It was quite tricky, but the children were very observant and came up with their own ideas for telling them apart.

Here is an example of our attempts...the children thought North America looked like a big purple dragon, can you see it?
